nice

one of the best parts of nice was the train ride from torino.
there was a lovely old gentelman sitting across from us on the train who struck up a conversation with jeremy about an hour after we left the station.  it was so sweet to sit back and listen to them talk, knowing that this was probably the last time jeremy would use his italian on our trip.
THE VIEWS on this ride were seriously out of this world.  the train weaved in and out of the mountains as we went down down down towards the sea.  jeremy told me later that the man takes the three hour train to the sea once a week and just walks the beach for a couple hours before he takes the train back home.  incredible, right?
we said goodbye to our new friend about two and a half hours into his three hour trip, and switched trains to head into france.  it was a huge shock getting onto a french train and we said au revoir to communicating with ease.

the train station in nice is located in the MOST shady part of town.  we huffed it to our hotel by the sea and set out to find some food.

we spent two and half days in nice and it was just what we needed.  we caught up on our sleep, sat out in the sunshine and settled into this new scene.
